A former U.S. intelligence officer says American personnel once opened fire on seven-foot reptilian beings found alive at the wreckage of a crashed unidentified craft.

That sounds like something pulled from a science-fiction movie.

The person making the claim is David Grusch, the former intelligence officer who became one of the most prominent figures in the modern UFO disclosure movement after testifying before Congress in 2023. In September 2026, Grusch returned to The Joe Rogan Experience and made claims far more extraordinary than anything he had previously said publicly.

The question is no longer whether Grusch said it.

He did.

The question is whether there is any evidence that it actually happened.

What Grusch Said

David Grusch appeared on episode #2560 of The Joe Rogan Experience, released September 30, 2026. During the conversation, Grusch discussed several alleged types of non-human beings, including small gray beings, human-looking entities and what he described as reptilians.

When Joe Rogan asked what the reptilians supposedly looked like, Grusch immediately added an important qualification: he had never personally seen one. He said the description came from someone else and characterized the beings as more than seven feet tall, with a gorilla-like build and scaly skin.

That distinction matters.

Grusch was not describing something he says he personally encountered. He was repeating information given to him by someone he says had knowledge of the incident.

The Alleged Crash Site

Later in the interview, Grusch described an alleged crashed craft associated with the reptilian beings. He claimed dead gray beings were also present at the site and suggested the wreckage might have resulted from some kind of conflict between different groups of non-human intelligence.

Rogan eventually asked what happened to the surviving reptilians.

Grusch said they were killed.

When Rogan asked whether American personnel had shot them, Grusch answered yes. He then said the beings had posed a threat and that U.S. personnel began getting hurt and dying during the encounter.

That is the origin of the viral claim now circulating online.

But Grusch also made another important statement.

He said he hoped the people who were actually present would eventually be allowed to tell the story themselves, rather than people hearing it “through me secondhand.”

That may be the most important sentence in the entire story.

What Is Actually Confirmed?

We can confirm that David Grusch is a real former intelligence officer with a documented government career.

We can confirm that he appeared before Congress in July 2023 and testified under oath that he had been informed of a secret crash-retrieval and reverse-engineering program. During that hearing, Grusch also said people with direct knowledge had told him that “nonhuman biologics” had accompanied some alleged recoveries.

But even during the congressional hearing, Grusch acknowledged an important limitation.

When asked directly whether he had personally seen the alleged bodies, he answered that he had not.

His public case has therefore always relied heavily on information supplied by other people, even though he says some of those sources had firsthand knowledge.

What Has Changed Since 2023?

The 2026 Rogan interview goes much further than Grusch’s congressional testimony.

In Congress, the language was careful: crash retrievals, reverse engineering and nonhuman biologics.

On Rogan, the story expanded dramatically.

Now there are multiple alleged species. Reptilian beings are described as seven feet tall with scaly skin. Dead gray beings allegedly appear at the same crash site. American personnel allegedly engage surviving reptilians in a violent confrontation.

Those details may eventually be supported by additional witnesses or documents.

At the moment, they are not.

Where Is the Evidence?

The public evidence required to verify an event like this would be enormous.

If American personnel were killed during an encounter with non-human beings, there should potentially be casualty records, operational records, medical documentation, after-action reports, photographs, video, physical evidence or witnesses willing to publicly describe what happened.

None of those materials have been released in connection with this alleged incident.

We do not know the date.

We do not know the location.

We do not know the military unit involved.

We do not know the names of the personnel allegedly killed or injured.

We do not know the name of Grusch’s source.

Without those details, independent investigators cannot even begin checking the story against military records.

What Does the Government Say?

The Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office has publicly reached conclusions that directly conflict with the broader crash-retrieval story behind Grusch’s claims.

In its 2024 historical review, AARO reported that it found no empirical evidence that the U.S. government or private companies had been reverse-engineering extraterrestrial technology. The office said it investigated programs, locations, companies and documents identified by interviewees and concluded that some authentic classified programs had been mistakenly associated with extraterrestrial activity.

AARO has continued to maintain that it has found no evidence of extraterrestrial beings or technology.

That does not mathematically prove that Grusch’s reptilian story is false.

It does mean the official investigative record currently provides no support for it.

Could Classified Evidence Exist?

This is where the argument becomes difficult to resolve.

Grusch maintains that much of the evidence is classified and that people with direct knowledge cannot simply release it publicly. If that is true, the public might not have access to the strongest evidence.

But that explanation creates a problem.

A claim that cannot currently be independently examined also cannot currently be independently verified.

“I have evidence that you cannot see” may be understandable in an intelligence environment, but it does not transform the hidden evidence into publicly established fact.

Until something becomes available for independent examination, the proper description remains the same:

It is a claim.

The Polymarket Post

A viral Polymarket post summarized the story by saying Grusch claimed U.S. troops opened fire on seven-foot reptilian beings found alive at an alleged alien spacecraft wreck.

That wording is dramatic, but it is not completely invented.

Grusch really did describe reptilians as seven feet tall or more. He really did say living reptilian beings were associated with a crash site. He really did agree that U.S. personnel shot them after the beings allegedly became threatening.

The misleading part comes when a social-media headline makes the story sound like a documented military incident rather than an extraordinary secondhand allegation.

“Whistleblower claims troops shot reptilians” is accurate.

“Troops shot reptilians” is not currently established.

That difference is the entire case.

Why It Matters

David Grusch occupies an unusual position in modern UFO history.

He is not an anonymous internet poster. He held real intelligence positions, worked with the UAP Task Force and testified under oath before Congress. That background is one reason his statements receive far more attention than an ordinary UFO story.

But credentials do not automatically verify every claim a person makes.

The more extraordinary the story becomes, the more important evidence becomes.

Seven-foot reptilian beings fighting American personnel at a crashed alien spacecraft would be one of the most important events in human history.

It should leave evidence equal to the size of the claim.

So far, publicly, it has not.

T Funk Take

This is exactly where I start having trouble with UFO disclosure stories.

David Grusch is not some guy posting from his basement. He actually worked inside the intelligence community, investigated UAP information and testified before Congress. That is why I think his claims deserve to be heard and investigated.

But seven-foot reptilian gorillas getting into a firefight with U.S. personnel is a completely different level of claim. Where did this happen? When did it happen? What military unit was there? Who was killed? Where are the reports? Where are the photographs? Where is one person who was actually standing there?

Grusch admits that he never personally saw these reptilians and that the shootout story is coming through him secondhand. That doesn’t automatically make it false, but it definitely doesn’t make it true.

My next question would probably be, “When does his book come out?” Not because that proves he is making anything up, but because once claims get this extraordinary, I start looking for motivations too.

At the same time, I don’t see an obvious reason to assume Grusch is intentionally misleading people. He has previously testified under oath about related UAP allegations, and he seems to believe the information being given to him. That raises another question: does he trust his sources so deeply that he believes these stories are true? If so, what convinced him?

If soldiers really fought giant reptilian beings at a crashed alien spacecraft, there should eventually be something we can examine besides another person saying somebody told them about it.

Until that happens, I am putting this one pretty close to the “sounds fake” side of the filing cabinet.

Show me the reptile.

Case remains open in the T Funk Era archive.
